The differences between Descriptive and Report Text
Some text types are quite difficult to differ. Such report and descriptive text have the similarity in the social function and generic structure. However if they are analyzed carefully, the slight difference between the two text types will reveal.
The purpose of the two texts are to give the live-description of the object/participant. Both the report and descriptive text try to show rather than tell the reader about the factual condition of the object. Readers by themselves will catch the impressive point of the object through that showing writing style. What make different, between report and descriptive text, is the scope of the written object. If we talk about, eg: bicycle, it belongs to report text. It will talk about bicycle in general; its parts, physical strengh, function for certain people or other general characters of bike. In the other hand, descriptive text will convey more focus, for example "my bicycle" with its specific characters; colour, lengh, wheel style, etc.
In short, report text describes the way of certain things and frequently refer to phenomenon of nature, animal and scientific object. Mostly, report is written after getting careful observation. This scientific and technical sense make clearer difference from descriptive text. The way of descriptive text in showing thing is based on the objective fact of the thing. It describe the specific thing simply as the thing is.
Perpedaan antara Report dan Deskriptive text
Beberapa jenis Teks memang susah untuk dibedakan. Karena memiliki perbedaan yang sangat tips. Dan begitu juga dengan Report dan Descriptive karea memang dua jenis Text ini memiliki fungsi social dan Generic structure yang sama, untuk membedakan antara Report dan Deskriptive harus dianalisa secara teliti dan terperinci.
Perbedaan yang terlihat terang antara Report dan Descriptive text yaitu bagaimana dan apa yang dideskripsikan. Apa yang dideskripsikan berarti apakah itu benda secara umum atau benda secara khsusus, jika Report yaitu pendeskripsian benda atau object secara umum, sedangkan Deskriptive teks yaitu pendeskripsian benda atau object tertentu secara khusus.
misal kasus menyerupai ini. Kita akan menandakan wacana “ IBU” jika kita menandakan Ibu dari segi umum, contohnya saja ibu yaitu orang yang melahirkan kita, Ibu hamil selama Sembilan bulan dan merawat kita dari kecil sampai kini dan lain lain, maka teks itu disebut dengan report alasannya menandakan Ibu secara umum. Sedangkan jika kita memiliki teks berjudul “ IBU “ dan isi dari teks tersebut yaitu menejaskan kapan ibu bangun, kapan ibu merawat aku, ibu saya berbadan gemuk dan baik. Beliau yaitu pemasak yang handal. Maka teks wacana ibu ini disebut dengan teks Deskriptive alasannya menandakan sesuatu secara khusus. Walaupun kedua teks tersebut sama sama berjudul “ IBU”

My house is located in Pattimura Street 09, Kota Baru. My house has a land area of 1500 m2 and a building area only 300 m2. There are several rooms in my house. They are a living room, a family room, kitchen and bathroom, three bedrooms and a warehouse.
Rumah saya terletak di Jalan Pattimura no 09. Rumah saya memiliki luas sebesar 1500 m2 dan dengan luas bangunan sebesar 300 m2. Ada beberapa ruang di rumah aku. Mereka yaitu kamar santai, sebuah kamar keluarga, dapur dan kamar mandi serta tiga kamar pulas dan sebuah gudang.
Pada teks dibawah ini yaitu pola report teks yang menandakan rumah secara umum
House is a place where you or someone can rest. When we are away anywhere we always miss our house. There is no place like my House. People around the world have to have house because it is place that can make someone is well rested.

Village
A village is a clustered human settlement or community, larger than a hamlet but smaller than a town, with a population ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand. Though often located in rural areas, the term urban village is also applied to certain urban neighbourhoods. Villages are normally permguant, with fixed dwellings; however, transient villages can occur. Further, the dwellings of a village are fairly close to one another, not scattered broadly over the landscape, as a dispersed settlement.
Sedangkan pada teks dibawah ini yaitu My Village yang ialah bentuk teks Descriptive dan mejelaskan wacana desa saya secara khusus.
The name of my village is Balabhadrapur. It is situated on the bank of the Brahmani. My village is separated from other villages by the main river on one side and by its tributary on two other sides. The village is very old and has a number of special features. Although it faces flood every year, the geographical feature of the village has not altered. It is believed that Lord Balabhadra who is the village deity protects this village in all kinds of disaster. Another specialty of this village is that there is no Brahmin family here. All the families bear the surname of Sahu. Although they are weavers by caste, there is no sign of weaving. They are farmers.
