A hound dog found a bone and held it tightly in his mouth. He growled and scowled at anyone who attempted to take it away. Off into the woods he went to bury his prize.
Seujung anjing balap menemukan sebuahtulang dan memegang dekat dengan mulutnya. Dia mendesis dan menggonggong ke pada siapa saja yang berusaha merebutnya. Jauh ke dalam hutan ia pergi untuk mengubur tulang berharganya itu.
When he came to a stream, he trotted over the footbridge and happened to glance into the water. He saw his own reflection. Thinking it was another dog with a bigger bone, he growled and scowled at it. The reflection growled and scowled back.
Ketika ia melewati sebuah sungai kecil, ia melambatkan jalannya di jembatan dan melihat ke dalam sungai. Dia melihat bayangannya sendiri. Karena berpikir bahwa itu ialah seujung anjing lain dengan sebuah tulang yang lebih besar. Dia mendesis pada bayangan tersebut. Bayangan tersebut membalasnya
"I'll get THAT bone too," thought the greedy dog, and he snapped his sharp teeth at the image in the water.
“Saya akan mendapat tulangnya juga” piker si Anjing rakus tersebut, dan ia memamerkan taringnya pada gambar di air tersebut.
Alas, his own big bone fell with a splash, out of sight, the moment he opened his mouth to bite!
Malang, tulang yang dibawanya terjatuh, dan tak terlihat, dikala si Anjing membuka lisan untuk menggigit.
