Kegunaan dari Simple Past Tense

Tenses ini dipakai untuk menceritakan kejadian atau kejadian yang terjadi pada masa lalu, tenses ini memiliki keterangan waktu yang jelas. Misalnya Saya membeli buku ini ahad lalu. Nah keterangan waktu kalimat tersebut terang yaitu ahad lalu. Kata kerja yang dipakai dalam kalimat Simple Past tense yakni kata  kerja bentuk ke dua atau V2. Untuk lebih mendalami tentang Kalimat Simple Past Tense perhatikan klarifikasi yang lebih detail diberikut.

RUMUS/POLA kalimat Simple Past Tense

KALIMAT POSITIVE = SUBJECT + V2 + KETERANGAN

Dalam Simple past tense tidak ada perbedaan subject tunggal dan jamak, tiruananya menggunakan V2 hal ini tidak sama dengan Simple Present Tense. perhatikan tumpuan kalimatnya dibawah ini

1. They bought the book at the bookstore yesterday morning
2. I did the mathematics exercise last night
3. He made a good song for the party last month
4. Rina sang a very beautiful song at party last night
5. My father built this house ten years ago.

KALIMAT NEGATIVE = SUBJECT +DID + NOT + V1 + KETERANGAN

Untuk kalimat negative, kita menambahkan did + Not dan kemudian diikuti oleh V1, ingat harus v1 yang sering tejadi kesalahan yakni masih menggunakan V2 hal ini yakni kesalahan fatal. Perhatikan tumpuan nya.

1. They did not buy the book at the bookstore yesterday morning
2. I did not do the mathematics exercise last night
3. He did not make a good song for the party last month
4. Rina did not sing a very beautiful song at party last month
5. My father did not build this house ten years ago

KALIMAT TANYA = DID + SUBJECT + + V1 + KETERANGAN + ?

Pembentukan kalimat Tanya dalam simple past tense yakni dengan meletakkah kata Did di pertama kalimat perhatikan contohnya, serta pada tamat kalimat harus dikasih tanda “?”

1. Did they buy the book at the bookstore yesterday morning ?
2. Did you do the mathematics exercise last night ?
3. Did he make a good song for the party last month ?
4. Did Rina sing a very beautiful song at party last month ?
5. Did your father build this house ten years ago ?

Buatlah kalimat dibawah ini menjadi kalimat yang benar, serta ubahlah ke dalam kalimat Negtive dan interogative

Jawaban dan Pembahasan soal diatas

1. It was warm, so I took off my coat.
Kalimat tersebut yakni kalimat positif sehingga menggunakan verb  artinya yakni “ ini hangat, sehinga saya melepaskan jaket aku”
2. The film wasn't very good. I didn't enjoy it very much.
Pada kalimat diatas sudah dijelaskan dalam pertama kalimat sehingga kalimat diatas dibentuk menjadika past tense dalam bentuk negative “ Film tidak bagus. Saya tidak menikmatinya”

3. I knew Sarah was very busy, so I didn't disturb her.
Pada kalimat diatas ialah kalimat negative, walaupun pertama kalimat berbentuk positive tapi alasannya untuk membuat kalimat tersebut sesuai maka dibentuk kalimat negative “ saya tahu sarah sangat sibuk, sehingga saya tidak mengganggunya”

4. I was very tired, so I went to bed early.
pada kalimat tersebut bermakna positive sehingga tidak perlu dirubah menjadi kalimat negative “ saya sangat lelah sehingga saya pergi pulas dengan cepat”

5. The bed was very uncomfortable. I didn't sleep very well.
kalimat diatas bermakna negative, sehingga pembentukan kalimat yang kedua harus negative  “ Tempat pulas tidak nyaman, saya tidak sanggup pulas dengan nyaman”

6. Sue wasn't hungry, so she didn't eat anything.
Pada kalimat diatas bermakna negative, sehingga pembentukan kalimat yang kedua harus juga negative “ Sue tidak lapar, sehingga ia tidak makan apapun”
7. We went to Kate's house but she wasn't at home.
Kalimat diatas menyatakan sebuah negative, sehingga pembentukannya harus juga negative “ Kami pergi ke rumahnya Kate akan tetapi ia tidak berada di rumah”

8. It was a funny situation but nobody laughed 
Walaupun kalimat tersebut sedikit bermakna negative akan tetapi ada kata “but/tetapi” sehingga tidak perlu dirubah menjadi negative.

9. The window was open and a bird flew into the room.
Kalimat diatas bermakna positive dan kalimat juga positve 

10. The hotel wasn't very expensive. It didn't cost very much.
Kalimat diatas bermakna negative sehingga pembuatan kalimat simple pastnya juga harus negative  

11. I was in a hurry, so I didn't have time to phone you.  
walaupun pertama diatas yakni kalimat positive, akan tetapi pembentukan kalimat ke dua harus negative

12. It was hard work carrying the bags. They were very heavy.
Kalimat diatas yakni kalimat positive dan pembentukan kalimat kedua juga harus positive.
